Collection markets
A collection page starts from the collection’s authoritative inventory. Listings and sales are overlays on that inventory, so an item does not disappear merely because it is not currently listed.
That ordering matters: a collection is a set of assets that exists whether or not anyone is selling, and a market view built the other way round would make a quiet collection look incomplete.
What a provider can and cannot do
Section titled “What a provider can and cannot do”The browse catalog is the set of active, published collections with confirmed local inventory and a validated, server-cached logo.
- A market-data provider may enrich a known local collection.
- A provider cannot create a collection, a route, or an inventory row.
Each row links with its stable collection id, so two collections with the same display name remain distinct and a collection id stays stable even when an enrichment provider is offline.
Listings overlay inventory and never create membership.
Finding an item
Section titled “Finding an item”Search, price, listing status, sorting, and traits work together. Trait choices are OR within a category and AND across categories. Browsing a market covers the mechanics, including the phone filter sheet and how the address bar holds your view.
Facet counts show distinct inscriptions and update without counting a multi-valued trait twice.
- A collection logo is identity media. It is downloaded, decoded, bounded, and served from Core’s cache. Featured artwork and item thumbnails are separate fields and do not replace it.
- Item thumbnails are served from the cache on the browsing path, so changing a warmed filter does not contact an artwork host.
- A published collection stays browsable while its logo is unavailable.
- Ordinals, DMT, and UNAT item artwork comes from the shared Universe media system. The web client accepts those internal routes and does not contact a public artwork host when a thumbnail is missing. Until a derivative is ready, a tile shows a loading surface or its explicit text identity.

Opening an item
Section titled “Opening an item”Opening an item loads the authoritative cached inscription details: its number, asset identity, metadata status, traits, and collection metadata. Market data from a collection provider may enrich a known local collection, but it cannot create a collection or route by itself.
Trading availability
Section titled “Trading availability”Action controls appear only where the selected protocol’s live ownership, listing, settlement, and broadcast readiness permits that action. A read-only market stays browsable and does not present a buy, list, edit, cancel, or offer control as if it could execute.
Before buying, review the inscription, the seller, the price, the fees, the network, and the wallet request. Core is non-custodial and never needs a seed phrase or a private key.
States
Section titled “States”If an upstream reader is unavailable or the data is incomplete, the page reports that state rather than presenting it as a confirmed empty market. A successful catalog response with no published inventory shows an explicit empty state, and a verified zero-result filter is distinguished from an unavailable response.
