This is the section where you stop reading and start doing. Every page here assumes you are about to sign a real Bitcoin transaction and pay a real fee, and it tells you exactly what you are agreeing to before you agree to it.

What taking part actually involves#

Joining a means signing one Bitcoin transaction. There is nothing to buy, no account to open, and no subscription.

You pay two things and no more. A network fee to miners, the same as any other Bitcoin transaction. And 1,000 satoshis held inside each output for as long as that path is alive, carried from step to step and released back to you when the path is completed.

Everything else is craft. Choosing the shape of a world. Writing an invitation people want to answer. Deciding what your one moment adds. Knowing when to stop.

Where to begin#

If you have never done this, read Joining and contributing to a world first, then Fees and confirmation. Together they take about fifteen minutes and they cover the two things people regret not knowing.

If you are opening a world for other people, read Creating a world from start to finish. Several of its settings are fixed at the moment of creation and cannot be edited afterwards, so it is worth an hour of thought before it is worth a transaction.
