Start safely

Meet your first portable Bitcoin order.

Ordex helps you inspect signed order evidence before you choose what to do. It never asks for custody of your Bitcoin and never approves a transaction for you.

1. Discover an order

Open a listing in a compatible Ordex market. Portable inventory can appear in more than one place, so focus on the order evidence, not the logo around it.

PublisherWho signed and shared the order
TermsWhat the order proposes
AssetWhat the order claims to move

2. Review what is attached

Read the asset identifier, price or exchange terms, referenced Bitcoin inputs, publisher signature, safety labels, and lifecycle. Treat missing, inconsistent, or surprising information as a reason to stop.

3. Check the latest signal

Every listing shows when it was last checked. A recent check means the selected Ordex experience observed the required conditions at that time; it is not a reservation or a promise about the next block. Ordex rechecks the listing again by itself before it hands the order over, and refuses to hand it over at all if that check does not succeed.

Public inputs can race.

Another transaction may spend the same input after a successful check. If an order becomes unavailable, do not try to work around the warning; request a fresh order from its publisher.

4. Sign only what you intend to share

If you publish portable order evidence, your NIP-07 signer should show an explicit approval request. Read it before approving. Ordex does not need your Nostr private key, wallet seed phrase, or Bitcoin signing secrets.

5. Complete it in your wallet

Ordex rechecks the listing, prices the purchase from your own outputs, and shows the exact price, network fee, change, and receiving address before your wallet is asked for anything. Your wallet then signs your own inputs only; the seller's half is already signed and is never touched. The node itself says whether it would accept the result, and the transaction reaches the network only when you send it. Ordex never signs, never contributes funds, and never broadcasts on its own initiative. For a wallet Ordex cannot drive, the raw signed order is still available behind a disclosure, and completing it safely is then yours, including placing the asset in an output you own.

Before you act

  • The order identity and publisher match what you expect.
  • The asset and transaction details are complete and consistent.
  • The availability signal is recent.
  • Your wallet shows only the inputs and outputs you intend.
  • You understand the fee and that confirmed Bitcoin transactions are difficult to reverse.
