**For:** a seller who wants a different price.
**Goal:** the asset on the book at a new price.
**Chain and network:** Bitcoin mainnet. **Version:** continuous.

**Safety:** there is a window where your asset is not for sale. If you are chasing a
moving market, that window is the risk.

## There is no price edit

The Bitcoin Universe ecosystem registry records `update-listing` as **not supported**
for both protocols, and it records why:

> Bitcoin Stamps listings must be cancelled and relisted; no atomic listing update is
> implemented.

> SRC-20 listings must be cancelled and relisted; no atomic listing update is
> implemented.

That is not a missing button. A listing is a signed commitment to a specific amount at
a specific price. Changing the price changes what was signed, so the old signature no
longer applies and a new one is required.

## SRC-20: what actually happens

StampDEX offers a guided reprice that chains the two steps together and links the
records, so the new order carries a reference to the one it replaced. It is a
convenience over the sequence, not an exception to it:

- The result is a **new order with a new id**, not the same order at a new price.
- It needs **your signature again**.
- It pays a **second 网络费用**.
- Only an open, unpaid listing can be replaced. Once a buyer has paid, settlement owns
  the order.

### Steps

1. Open the listing from your [portfolio](/docs-stampdex/zh-cn/guides/portfolio/).
2. Choose to reprice, and set the new price.
3. Sign the cancellation challenge, then sign the new listing.
4. The old order reads **Cancelled** and links to the new one, which reads **Open**.

Doing it by hand gives the same outcome: [cancel](/docs-stampdex/zh-cn/guides/cancel-a-listing/),
then [list again](/docs-stampdex/zh-cn/guides/sell-src20/).

## Bitcoin Stamps: mind the cooldown

A stamp price is a dispenser rate, so changing it means closing the dispenser and
opening a new one. **Counterparty enforces a close cooldown**, so the stamp stays
escrowed for a period after you close, and you cannot immediately open a new dispenser
with it.

Plan for that. On stamps, the gap in the diagram above is not seconds, it is however
long the cooldown takes to finalize. See
[List and unlist a stamp](/docs-stampdex/zh-cn/guides/list-a-stamp/).

## Expected result

The old listing in state **Cancelled**, and a new listing in state **Open** at your new
price.

## How to verify

```bash
curl "https://stamp.api.bitcoinuniverse.io/api/v1/orders?tick=KEVIN&status=open"
```

The new listing appears at the new `priceSatsPerToken`. The old one no longer appears
in the open book.

## Common failure states

| You see | What happened | What to do |
| --- | --- | --- |
| "Only an unpaid open listing can be replaced" | A buyer already paid | Let settlement finish. You are being paid |
| "Listing is no longer replaceable" | The order left the open state while you worked | Refresh and read its current state |
| "The listing anchor is spent or missing; use repair instead" | The output backing the listing was spent | Use repair, which rebuilds the listing against a fresh anchor |
| The stamp will not relist | The Counterparty close cooldown has not finalized | Wait for it. The stamp is not lost, it is still escrowed |

## Recovery path

If the cancel succeeds and the new listing fails, you are left with no listing and your
tokens under your own control. Nothing is stranded. List again when you are ready.
